Google-owned YouTube has recently introduced a groundbreaking feature called ‘Hum to Search,’ which allows users to quickly find songs by humming or singing a short part of the melody. This feature is currently being tested on the YouTube Music app for Android devices and is available to a select group of users.

YouTube Music is trying out a new ‘hum to search’ feature on its app for Android phones. Owing to this feature, users can find songs by humming, singing, or recording a short piece of the tune for at least three seconds. When you hum or record, YouTube’s smart technology matches it to the song’s unique melody. Then, it shows you videos related to that song, like official music videos or user-made content. Right now, this feature is only available to a small group of Android users as part of a test by Google.

To use the ‘Hum to Search’ feature, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open the YouTube app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap on the Search icon located at the top right of the screen.
  3. Next to the search bar, tap on the microphone icon to activate the hum-to-search feature.
  4. Grant YouTube permission to access your microphone for this feature.
  5. Hum, sing, or whistle the melody of the song you’re looking for.
  6. YouTube’s smart technology will analyze your audio input and search for the song based on its unique melody.
  7. Once the search is complete, YouTube will display a list of results related to the song, such as official music videos or user-generated content.
  8. If you’re satisfied with the result, tap on it to listen to the song. If not, you can repeat the process by humming the melody again and searching for the song.

This innovative feature simplifies the process of finding songs, making it easier and quicker for users to locate music they enjoy.
