The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has announced an extension for the registration deadline for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024. Aspirants now have until September 20 to complete their applications. Candidates who haven’t registered yet can do so by visiting the official website, iimcat.ac.in.

Key Registration Details

Applicants must provide a valid email address and mobile number during the registration process, as these will be the primary means for receiving updates and notifications related to the exam.

Exam Date and Timings

CAT 2024 is set to take place on November 24, with the exam being conducted in three sessions across 170 cities nationwide. The session timings are as follows:

  • Session 1: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM
  • Session 2: 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM
  • Session 3: 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Candidates will be able to download their admit cards starting from November 5, and the results are expected to be announced in the second week of January 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for CAT 2024, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA. However, candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PwD categories are required to have a minimum of 45% marks.

Students who are currently in the final year of their degree program, or have recently completed their final exams and are awaiting results, are also eligible to apply on a provisional basis.

Exam Pattern

The CAT 2024 exam consists of three sections:

  1. Quantitative Ability (QA)
  2. Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
  3. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)

The exam will last 120 minutes, with 40 minutes allotted for each section. Importantly, candidates will not be allowed to switch between sections during the exam.

To apply for CAT 2024, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official website at iimcat.ac.in
  2. Click on the “New Candidate Registration” option
  3. Enter your login credentials
  4. Complete the application form and upload the required documents
  5. Download and save the filled form for future reference

Application Fees

The application fee for general category candidates is ₹2,500, while candidates from the SC, ST, and PwD categories will need to pay ₹1,250.

With the extended deadline, aspiring candidates have more time to prepare and complete their applications for one of the most competitive exams in India.
